The High Magnetic Resonance Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory has a 300 MHz NMR equipment. The spectrometer exclusively analyzes samples in solution and observes the nuclei of carbon-13, phosphorus-31 and hydrogen-1.
In this equipment, quantitative analyzes are developed to characterize homopolymers and copolymers, to generate information such as: ordering of polymers - microstructure; determination of pentades content, composition of copolymers, among others. In this equipment, samples of low molar mass materials are also made, such as oils, drugs and other samples.
In this laboratory, food characterization studies are also carried out through the extraction of components, such as teas, fixed oils, etc.

The Instrumental Support Laboratory Professor Elisabeth E.C. Monteiro (LAPIN 1) is a multiuser laboratory, intended for the structural characterization and evaluation of physical and chemical properties of polymers. It meets requests for work developed at IMA and other teaching and research institutions, as well as from private companies (through the Unit's Service Management).
The technical team of the laboratory is formed by:

The Instrumental Support Laboratory 2 (LAPIN 2) is a multi-user laboratory, intended for the superficial, structural and morphological characterization of polymeric materials. This laboratory conducts analyzes for the IMA student and faculty community in order to obtain results for the progress of the work developed at the institute. It also carries out analyzes for other teaching and research institutions and for private companies (through the Service Management).

The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory of low magnetic resolution, involving exclusively analyzes of the hydrogen nucleus and has 4 NMR equipment:
It develops characterization methodologies for different polymeric materials, ranging from homopolymers to nanostructured materials, in solid, liquid and gel forms, used in several applications, such as packaging, adhesives, petrochemicals and controlled drug release. These studies are performed by means of relaxometry via determination of the spin-net and spin-spin relaxation times, in addition to the 2D, T1T2 determinations.
Hydrogen spectra of materials in liquid form can be obtained from the pico-spin spectrometer.
In this laboratory, food characterization studies are also carried out, either in its integral or modified form, by means of relaxometry analyzes to determine the nuclear relaxation parameters and by the MQC to determine the oil content.
